The fish really seemed to break out of their spring funk this week. Early in the week, the fish only wanted live crabs, but yesterday they were spanking mullet up and down the creek banks. Had the pleasure to fish with some great people this week and we were blessed with better Easter weather than was originally forecasted. The flounder are back in the creeks in goood numbers and can be caught on live bait or with gulps rigged weedless or on jigheads. Now that the redfish are back on the mullet diet, you should be able to wrangle up a few fish on topwater plugs early and late in the day.

Excited that we don’t have to use crabs for bait anymore – I’ve got a few leftovers that are destined for a hot grease bath tonight. Independent Seafood in Georgetown, SC should still have some softshells left if you are interested in a good meal. Get them while you can because our crab molt is coming to a close for the season.

There are some giant flounder already in our inshore waters. Here’s an 8-pounder that was gigged in Murrells Inlet this week.
