Offshore fishing in Georgetown, SC: GLM Fishing Report Thursday 8-8-13

Inshore fishing is most often discussed here at DeBordieu, but offshore in South Carolina's waters bigger fish can be found. Offshore fishing can be better than most people realize. It can be hit or miss (it is fishing after all), but dolphin, wahoo, and tuna can be caught along with billfish, white marlin, blue marlin, and sailfish.
A local boat, just two days ago, caught a blue marlin and a sailfish. Both fish were released to grow bigger and be caught another day. Boats fly flags (see the picture below) to indicate their catch. The flags are upside down. Upside down flags mean that the fish were released.
Below is the report from Georgetown Landing Marina.

Subject: GLM Fishing Report Thursday 8-8

Big Sky went Wednesday and Thursday with one Blue Marlin released and two Sailfish.  They also caught a Dolphin, a couple of Black Fin Tuna and one King. Nice work Big Sky Crew!  The fishing is good and should only get better as we get into the fall.
