DeBordieu Colony is a very private community on the coast of South Carolina, between Charleston and Myrtle Beach, just south of Pawleys Island. In addition to miles of secluded beach, boat landing access to North Inlet, and a 24-hour manned security gate, the private, equity DeBordieu Club offers Pete Dye golf, a tennis center and an ocean front Beach Club with fine dining, a gazebo “tiki hut” bar, two pools, and a playground. There is truly no place like DeBordieu. Come see for yourself.

Professional golfers Bill Haas and his father Jay will have a different kind of stick in their hands Monday, Nov. 12, the day before they play in the DeBordieu Celebrity Pro-Am for Cystic Fibrosis.
It will be a fishing rod instead of a golf club. The two men will join more than a dozen other teams as they participate in
the first annual CF4CF, an acronym for Catching Fish For Cystic Fibrosis. Englis Glover will capture the action on video for his show “Reelin Up the Coast” on WMMB and WPDE, Sundays at 9 a.m. “We could use a few more teams,” reported Shawn Roper, DeBordieu Head Golf Professional. “What makes it attractive is that the entry fee of $500 per team goes entirely to the SC Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is tax deductible. Teams also will enjoy an awards ceremony with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar that evening, as well as admission the following night to the Pro-Am Gala Banquet and Auction.”

Teams are composed of a guide and two fishermen targeting redfish, sea trout and flounder. Release of the catch is encouraged, but a nice seafood supper might emerge from the tournament. Teams are encouraged to have a good time. There will be awards, but mostly just bragging rights. Last year the tournament raised $135,000 for Cystic Fibrosis, aided by a donation of $50,000, courtesy of Bill Haas and his donation through participating in the Presidents Cup. Pro-Am teams have been sold out since the event was announced six months ago. If you are interested in participating in the fishing tournament or sponsoring an event or a hole, call Shawn Roper at 527-6000.
