Loving a spouse may not be the only Valentine’s Day statistic to perk up Realtors and to make recent buyers know they’re coming to the right place.
Loving a state can be a big factor in where people buy.
And according to the latest National Movers Study by United Van Lines, South Carolina had the second highest rate of inbound movers in the country in 2014.
The study showed that 61 percent of movers in the Palmetto State were inbound, just four points behind leader Oregon.
North Carolina was the third most popular inbound destination, hard on the heels of South Carolina, the study said.
Vermont and Florida rounded out the top five for inbound popularity.
Those states with an outbound majority had potentially good news for South Carolina’s and the Grand Strand’s chances for continuing as top destinations.
New Jersey, New York and Illinois were one, two and three, respectively, for outbound movers, and all send a healthy share of the 14 million vacationers to the Grand Strand each year. Realtors find that repeat vacationers translate into second home and retirement home buyers.
Others in the top 10 outbound states include West Virginia, number five, Ohio number six and Pennsylvania and Connecticut as nine and 10. All are liberally represented among the out-of-state license plates frequently seen on the Grand Strand.
