Standing watch for the future, environment and community


The South Carolina Maritime Foundation was founded as a public nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in August 2000 by a group with passionate maritime interests. The Foundation launched the Spirit of South Carolina in 2007 and began serving students and teachers with South Carolina state standards-based educational programs. In addition to owning and operating the Spirit of South Carolina sailing school vessel, the Foundation publishes South Carolina Voyage and hosts major maritime events to fund these educational programs, including Charleston Race Week, Charleston Harbor Fest, Spirit Ball, Captain's Cup Golf Tournament, Charleston to Bermuda Race, Spirit Night local partnerships and more.
